The B.S. in Data Science spans academic fields in computer science and mathematics such as machine learning and statistical inference, probability, linear algebra, computer programming, software engineering, data mining, high-performance computing, and cloud computing. Advances in Artificial Intelligence, which include Natural Language Understanding, Natural Language Generation, and Image Understanding complement already in-demand skills in a breadth of industries from healthcare, finance, manufacturing, e-commerce, transportation and logistics, to sports and entertainment and virtually any business seeking to automate model training, accelerate data cleaning, and generate predictive insights. 

Undergraduates who graduate with their B.S. in Data Science can expect to find many jobs in this field, which is projected to grow 34% from 2024 to 2034 and has a $112,590 median salary per year as of 2025, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. PwC indicates the New York metro area as the top region seeking data scientists.
